In de voorstelling Tot Ik Barst onderzoekt theatermaker Harry van Aken hoe hij los kan breken van wie hij moet zijn, om te ontdekken wie hij werkelijk is.

Hoe vind je je eigen stem te midden van alle verwachtingen van buitenaf? Hoe luister je naar je gevoel als je hoofd altijd de baas is? En als dat lukt, hoe maak je dan verbinding in een maatschappij die steeds sneller gaat en waar persoonlijk succes alles lijkt te overheersen?

Met zijn krappe studentenkamer als decor vraagt Harry van Aken zich af waarom hij niet gelukkig is. Op zoek naar antwoorden reist hij naar zijn verleden en wordt hij geconfronteerd met verscholen pijn en moeilijke keuzes die hem dwingen te ontdekken wie hij is en wat hij werkelijk wil.

With his cramped student room as the setting, Harry van Aken questions why he is not happy. In search of answers, he travels back to his past and is confronted with hidden pain and difficult choices that force him to discover who he is and what he truly wants.

Tot Ik Barst is an intimate, autobiographical cabaret-style performance: a sharp, playful, and moving monologue interwoven with poetic pop songs that touches you, makes you reflect, and invites you to see things differently.
